Melvin J. Grybowski

AGE: 87 • Newark

Melvin J. Grybowski, age 87, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.

Born in Baltimore, MD he was the son of the late Edmund and Mary Grybowski. Melvin proudly served his country in the US Army in WWII during the European Campaign. He graduated from University of Baltimore where he was a member of the Beta Alpha Honorary Scholarship Society for the School of Business, Industry & Management. He had earned the highest average in their degree program on June 15, 1950. He was an accountant for the University of Delaware, retiring in 1993. Melvin was an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Chapel Street Players, and Hiram Lodge No. 25 in Newark. He enjoyed trips to Ocean City, MD with his family and deep sea fishing.

Melvin is survived by his son, Mark D. Grybowski (Denise); daughter, Joyce G. Fuhrman (Rev. Dr. Jeffrey); grandchildren: John M. Grybowski (Tuesdea); Bill Grybowski (Jenn), Carson Fuhrman and Katelyn and Jimmy Windle; and great grandchildren: Victoria, Alicia, John, Jr., and Mesa. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Helen Targarona Grybowski.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2014 from 5-7PM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 followed by a celebration of Melvin's life at 7PM. Interment will be private in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 6700 Eastwood Street, Philadelphia, PA 19149.
