AGE: 88 • Wilmington

Thomas B. Baker, age 88, passed away on Monday July 28, 2014.

Mr. Baker was Canadian born, and was sent to the U.S. for schooling as a child, making Delaware his home. He proudly served his adopted country, enlisting in the Marines during WWII and was deployed to Wake Island in the Pacific. With a talent for design and fascination with electronics, Mr. Baker worked for a time at the DuPont Co. and eventually founded T. Baker & Associates. Providing custom security systems for local corporations, he took great pride in his projects, and working along with his sons in a family business.

Tom will be deeply missed by his wife Ann C. (Nancy) Baker, with whom he shared more than sixty years of devotion, some tears and much laughter. Also survived by sons Rob, Tom (Nancy), Ted and daughter Shawn Snyder (Stuart), seven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren and two nieces. His gentle manner and inquisitive nature endeared him to all." An avid reader with benefit to others always in mind, he greeted us with dog eared scientific magazines and various clippings in hand to share.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Kutz Nursing Home, and the Wilmington V.A. Hospital for the attentive care given to Mr. Baker.

Although we never met in Person but Gabrielle used to always tell me amazing stories about her family and about you as well although myself I Used to participate in the JROTC military during my senior year in High School and it would’ve been fascinating to seek wisdom from someone like you who had high experiences in being in the military Well I know I’m 6 years late but please give my condolences to Brie and her family and thank you for your service!!!

Thanks Dad for instilling an interest in the world early on. The family road trips across the U.S. to Canada and reading us to sleep from the Time/Life books with the fantastic pictures on nature and evolution. He taught us with love and sincerity.
