Thomas J. Kalinowski, Sr., 66 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, July 9, 2013 in the comfort and prayers of his family and friends.

Thomas was born in Wilmington, where he received his education, married and raised his family. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served our country during the Vietnam War, and retired in 2006 after 34 years of dedicated service to the Wilmington Fire Department.

TK was an active and faithful member of St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Parish, where he enjoyed the company of many loving, lifelong friends. His abundant life revolved around family, friends, faith, fire department and food. TK could frequently be found at the Newport Diner or driving his beloved predeceased aunts, Martha and Agnes Osowski, on day trips to Shady Maple.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Alice (Osowski) Kalinowski; and his brother, Leonard.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Sharon "Sherry" (Sullivan) Kalinowski; his sons, Thomas J., Jr. (Jennifer) and Brian; along with his two grandchildren, Lillian and Thomas J., III. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph (Lynne); his sisters, Marge Lann (David) and Helen Kline (Thomas); and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Friday, July 12 from 4:00 - 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church, Cedar and S. Clayton Streets, Wilmington on Saturday, July 13 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of TK may be made to St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Parish, 809 S. Broom Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
