AGE: 85 • Wilmington & Long Neck
Resident of Wilmington and Long Neck, DE, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at the age of 85.
Walt was born in Vilonia, AR to Bertie and William Wilson. He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
After serving in the Korean War where he survived the battle at Chosin Reservoir he worked many jobs. He was a mechanic, a milk man, bartender, and bus driver. He retired from his last job at A. I. DuPont Hospital at the age of 83. He was also a life member of Five Points Fire Co. where he served on the antique committee.
Walt enjoyed traveling with family and friends, camping trips, and his time at the beach. He loved hosting parties, fishing, and working in his garden.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Reba; two daughters, Sula Wilson-Looney and her husband Bob, and Sherry Wilson; three grandchildren, Robby Looney, Lukas Wilson, and Ronni Lynn Wilson. He is also survived by his dog, Scooter.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the service at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Hwy., Elsmere on Friday, January 10, 2014 at 11 am. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday morning from 9:30-11 am. Due to scheduling, the committal services will take place at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Bear on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 11 am.
