Wayne was born January 26, 1939 in Richmond, Virginia, a son of the late John Herbert Litchford, Sr. and Grace Elizabeth (Venable) Litchford. "Tiger," as he was known to all who loved him, graduated from Seaford High School with the class of 1957. He proudly served his country in the Delaware National Guard for 5 years during the 1950's. He retired in 1995 from Delmarva Power as a System Operator with 35 years of service. Following retirement he worked as a courier for Peninsula Cardiology and for several years worked as the manager and caretaker for St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar. He was an active and vital part of the Delmar community. He served on the Delmar Town Council for a number of years and was past president of the Delmar Little League, where he held various positions. Memberships include St. Stephen's United Methodist Church, the Salisbury Elks Lodge, the Delmar VFW Post 8276 men's auxiliary, the Delmar Kiwanis and a past member of the Delmar Lions Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer, card player and Sudoku player. He enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie with his local card group, and was a self-proclaimed "CARD-iologist." He was also an avid bowler and shuffleboard player. He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard, gardening and loving the hummingbirds. Most important to him were his faith, his family and his friends.

He is survived by his wife, Diane E. Litchford, to whom he married in 1989; a daughter, Allyson M. Grinnan (David) of Berlin; 3 sons, Stephen Michael Litchford (Dawn) of Delmar, James G.
