William D. Davis, age 91, passed away at his residence in Lima Estates, Lima, PA, on Thursday, July 25, 2013.
Bill was the son of the late Wilbur and Hester Davis of Milford, DE. He attended Prime Hook School, Milford Elementary and graduated from Milford High School. He continued his education in later years at Goldey-Beacom College. Bill served in WWII at the Battle of the Bulge and Crossing of the Rhine where he was injured. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his heroics.
Bill spent his 42 year career with the DuPont Company in the Audio Visual Section of the Advertising Department until he retired in 1983. His retirement years were spent having his own audio-visual business and compiling and publishing a book of genealogy of his family.
Bill is predeceased by his first wife, Sara MacDonald, his second wife, Mary Jane Schrader and his younger brother, Joseph R. Davis. He is survived by two sisters; Louise Workman of Milton, DE and Muriel Baker of Wilmington, DE and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, at 10 am at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE. Interment will follow at All Saint's Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to honor his nephew, Jacob Reynolds, to the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware, 1901 Rockland Road, Wilmington, DE 19803.
