William F. Dryden, Jr. died on October 4, 2013.
Active involved, caring and yes, even employed at the age of 81, Bill Dryden has now reunited with his wife of 57 years, Marie who predeceased him in October of 2007. He will also join his grandson, Hugh Dryden, who passed earlier this year.
A graduate of Martinsville High School (VA), Bill worked at the DuPont Experimental Station site, being instrumental in the development of many fibers, including Kevlar. He ended his career with DuPont as a building supervisor.
He was a Veteran of the Korean War, having attained the rank of Sergeant in the U.S. Army, 24th Division.
Bill was a caring neighbor, a wonderful friend and a phenomenal dad. All in all, a good man. He is survived by his son, Stephen F. Dryden, Esq., his daughter-in-law, Catherine Dryden, two grandsons, Pierce and Zachary Dryden, a step-grandson, Andrew Dryden, as well as his sister Marjorie Smith and his brother-in-law Richard E. Smith, Sr.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday October 10, 2013 at the chapel Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 DuPont Parkway, New Castle. Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
