William H. Morgan "Bill"

Age 88, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 due to complications from hip fracture surgery two weeks prior to his death.

Born in Hutchinson, KS, Bill was the son of the late John Albert and Elinor (Martin) Morgan. He served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Afterward, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Kansas State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He worked as a mechanical engineer in Wichita, KS for Coleman Company, Boeing and Gates Learjet, and was the Director of Design Engineering for Gates Learjet and Bombardier in Tucson, AZ.

After his retirement, he continued to be active in the industry as an FAA inspector and consultant for many years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Tucson. His faith and the fellowship there were very dear to him. Bill enjoyed traveling and was an accomplished outdoorsman. Bill spent the last year in Delaware to be close to family and made many friends at Millcroft Senior Community where he lived and worshipped.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Vada Belle Morgan, his brother, Jack W. Morgan, and his sister, Dorothy Brown. He is survived by his children, Steven Morgan of Indio, CA and Susan Salvatore and her husband, Victor, of Hockessin, DE; two grandchildren, Steven and Heather Salvatore; sister-in-law Geneva Morgan of Hutchinson, KS and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am Tuesday, March 19, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, KS with Pastor Richard Brooks presiding. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may call Tuesday 9:30 am to service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
