William P. Ferguson, Jr., 70 of Wilmington, DE peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
Bill was born in Wilmington on June 8, 1943, son of the late William P. and Elva (Minner) Ferguson. A veteran of the United States Army, he was employed for the past 41 years as manager with Millcreek Mobile Home and Land Company. Bill was a horse racing enthusiast and proudly owned several thoroughbred horses throughout the years. He enjoyed his time at Delaware Park and served on the board of directors of the Delaware Horsemen's Assistance Fund. He was also an avid football fan and enjoyed cheering for the Phillies. A friend to all, Bill was a kind and generous man who would answer a call from anyone in need.
Bill will be dearly missed by his wife of 31 years, Beverly Thiemann Ferguson. He is also survived by his brother, John Ferguson and wife, Jenny; his nephews, John Henry Ferguson and wife, Heather and Chad Ferguson and wife, Rachael; his niece, Katie Stotelmyer and husband, Scott; his Thiemann family in-laws; 15 additional nephews and nieces; and 8 great nephews and nieces.
Bill was predeceased by his brothers, Warren and Andrew Ferguson.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Tuesday, September 3 from 9:00 - 11:00AM. A service in honor of Bill will begin at 11:00AM, with interment following in All Saints Cemetery.
