LeRoy: Donald Karl Stockdale passed away on Tuesday September 2, 2014 at age 88. Dr. Stockdale was born on November 30, 1925 in Morgantown, West Virginia to the late Charles and Nellie Bly Stockdale. He attended Morgantown High School and then West Virginia University and the University of Virginia as part of the Navy's V-12 Program. After graduating from Cornell Medical School he began a residency at Detroit Babies Hospital where he met his late wife Nancy Barone Stockdale. He was called back to service during the Korean War, and, after being discharged, completed a residency in pediatrics at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Stockdale practiced pediatrics in LeRoy for nearly 20 years. He then took the position of Deputy Director of the Monroe County Health Department, where his responsibilities included the establishment of health clinics in the inner city of Rochester. He subsequently was appointed Deputy Commissioner for the New York State Department of Health where he administered the Medicaid Program for Western New York. Later in his career, he served as a physician for Eastman Kodak Company. Dr. Stockdale is survived by his sons Donald Stockdale, Jr., and Charles Barone (Carol) Stockdale, his sister Jean Rhymer, 8 grandchildren and 19 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Ruth Garlow, brothers Charles Harold, Robert Stockdale.

Family and friends may at the Cameron, Brady & Steuber Funeral Home, 111 Wolcott St. (Rte. 19 South), LeRoy on Sunday September 7, from 4-7PM. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 10AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lifetime Care , 3111 South Winton Road, Rochester, NY 14623.
