Fairport: Donald W. Shepardson, age 93, formerly of Canandaigua, passed away December 23, 2013. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabell (Gordon) Shepardson in 2010. He is survived by four children, Bruce Shepardson (Merrilee Olmstead), Alan (Martha) Shepardson, Jed Shepardson and Elaine Lanni; three grandchildren, Corey and Brenton Shepardson and Adrienne Isabell Lanni; sister-in-law, Barbara Hilty; and many nieces and nephews.
Don earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. Don worked at Taylor Instruments for 10 years, before being hired by the Haloid Company in 1955, which later became Xerox. He was promoted to chief design engineer at Haloid, for the 914 copier project and continued working for the Xerox Corporation until his retirement in 1975. Don was a devoted Xerox employee. At one time, he was active in the Christian Science church. He enjoyed engineering technology, diesel cars, religion, traveling, writing "letters to the editor" and spending summers on Keuka Lake. Most of all, Don enjoyed spending time with his family.
Friends may call Saturday, January 11, from 2-4 p.m. at Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua. His memorial service will immediately follow the calling hours at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canandaigua.
