Matthews, Jack Hiram

Rochester: Died Feb. 26, 2013 at age 89. Predeceased by parents Roy and Georgia Matthews, brother Randel Matthews. Jack is survived by his wife, Anita; children Lyndal Winters, Warren (MaryJo Hartman), Melissa (James Calabrese), Marcie (William Monteverdi), Wendy (William Lista); grandchildren Jacob and Natalie Lista, Olivia and Evelyn Calabrese, Shantel Santiago, Kimberly Ellis; brother Roy Matthews of Ashville, N.C. and brother James Matthews (Sandra) of Albuquerque, N.M.; many nieces and nephews. Jack's career included teaching accounting for many years at both the University of Minnesota and the University of Rochester's Graduate School of Management. He was an Eagle Scout and a United States Army veteran during World War II. He will be remembered for his generosity, his sense of humor and his easy going nature, even as his illness progressed.

Services and internment will be private. Donations can be made to the Creative Care Neighborhood at the Highlands at Pittsford's Living Center at 500 Hahnemann Trail, Pittsford, NY 14534; and to the Palliative Care Unit of Highland Hospital, 1000 South Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620.
