Breen Sr., James A.

Palmyra: Died on Sun. Feb. 17, 2013 at the age of 85. Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Thurs., Feb. 21 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra. A mass of Christian burial will be offered at 9am on Fri. Feb. 22 at St. Katherine Drexel Parish in St. Anne's Church, Palmyra. Burial with full military honors will be in St. Anne's Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Palmyra Community Center, PO Box 404, Palmyra, NY 14522.

Jim was born on August 8, 1927 to Louis and Carrie Michelson Breen. At the age of seventeen, Jim joined the United States Marine Corp. The funeral home proudly flies the Marine Corp flag in honor of his service to our country. Jim worked in the family grocery business and eventually became a co-owner of Breen's Supermarkets which have been in business for over 100 years. Jim was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a supporter of Ducks Unlimited. Jim also was a dedicated supporter of the Palmyra Community Center and had served on the advisory board of Lincoln First Bank.

Mr. Breen was predeceased by his parents; his first wife Kathleen; sisters Bernice Wood and Geraldine Havert; brothers Richard and David Breen and grandson John Schultz. He is survived by his wife Beverly; daughter Cheryl (Mike) Stratton; sons Jim (Dawn) Breen Jr., Mike (Kathleen) Breen and Daniel (Sally) Breen; stepchildren Gordon (Sherry) Petty, Steven Petty, Cheryl (Gary) VanHarken, Terri (Scott) Pearce and Lori (Richard) Healy; sisters Madelyn Sauer and Betty Benzel; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.
