Clifton Spings, NY: Jane Lee Kahn, long-time resident of Clifton Springs, died at home in Salisbury, CT on April 12, 2014. Jane was born in Springville, PA on April 1, 1927. She graduated from Penn State University after which she moved to New York to begin a career as an interior designer. Shortly after marrying Joseph Kahn in 1953, they moved to 95 East Main Street, Clifton Springs where Jane remained until the summer of 2013. Jane was predeceased by her parents, two siblings and her husband.
Jane was known throughout her life for her independent spirit and devotion to her family, friends and church. In the course of her years in Clifton Springs, Jane participated in almost every imaginable volunteer activity, frequently in a leadership role. Among her longest running pleasures were singing in the church choir and reading with the ladies in Tourist Club. When not involved in community and church activities, Jane enjoyed skiing, gardening, decorating, and entertaining.
Jane is survived by her sons Joseph Kahn, Jr. and James P. Kahn, their respective wives Linda and Mary and daughter Barbara Kahn Moller and her husband Karsten. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 6 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church at 11AM on April 26,2014. In recognition of her love of flowers the family requests those who attend the service to bring a single flower or simple bouquet to be placed on the altar. Donations in Jane's memory may be made to the Clifton Springs United Methodist Church Building Fund.
