Fairport: 1938-2014. Jean Boynton Baker, age 75, died peacefully on June 25, 2014, at home.

She is survived by two brothers, Neil Baker of Lompoc, California,and Bruce Baker of Canandaigua, New York , four nieces, Amy Garber of Portland, Oregon, Catherine Guthrie of Snow Camp, North Carolina, Alice Holley of Canandaigua, New York, and one nephew Jonathan Baker of Brondby Strand, Denmark.

Jean was born and raised in Ithaca, New York. After graduation from the College of Wooster in 1960 and completion of graduate work at Cornell University during the summer of 1960, she began her teaching career at Pittsford's Jefferson Road Elementary.

After retirement, Jean spent winters in San Carlos, Mexico, where she dedicated countless hours to a Fine Arts' Council which she helped in establishing and in the "Castaway Kids" program, the mission being to provide financial and personal support to children who have been abandoned by their parents. She also provided prostheses to breast cancer survivors.

Every winter Jean left Mexico and traveled to Belize and helped with ecological problems effecting marine life.

A memorial service will be held in the near future at the convenience of the family.
