Byrne, John J.

Rochester: John J. Byrne, 68 of Rochester passed away at home on March 18, 2013. Reunited with his beloved Ann (Driscoll), John was also predeceased by his parents, William and Mary Byrne and siblings William, Kevin, Mary Jo O'Connor, and Kathleen "Kitty" Carroll, Devoted brother in law of Edward and Christine Driscoll, Mary Kate Driscoll, Martin Carroll and Maureen Sullivan Byrne. Cherished uncle of Maura O'Connor and Jason Walker, John and Katie Carroll, Katie Danielson, Jimmy and Gia Carroll, Erin and Mike Alexander, Michelle Driscoll, Joe and Jamie Driscoll, Dan and Stacy Driscoll, and 4 great-nieces and 10 great-nephews. Dearly loved by cousins, extended family and special friends Geri and Jim Norton, and Jim and Mary Holleran.

John was a Vietnam War veteran and an active parishioner and former Trustee of Blessed Sacrament Church. A Eucharistic Minister, he served on parish council and numerous committees. John and Ann also spearheaded the homeless ministry for many years.

Friends are invited to call Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.) A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, 11 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, Oxford St. Entombment at White Haven Memorial Park. Those wishing to do so may make a contribution to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or Blessed Sacrament Church.
