Irondequoit: Saturday, September 7, 2013 at age 80 after a nine year battle with melanoma cancer. She was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of Francis and Ilda Goodall Lord. She grew up in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She is survived by her loving husband, Lowell "Ozzie" Salyards; son, Dr. Stephen (Joanne Coburn) Salyards of LaVerne, California; daughter, Karen (Matthew) Peterson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; son, Paul (Oleta Lane) Salyards of Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren, Rebecca (Isaac) Henkel of Fairport, New York, Philip and Timothy of LaVerne, Winfield and Maverick of Dallas. In addition, her brother, Robert Lord of Sierra Madre, California and niece Elyse Lord of California and nephew, Deron Lord of Washington.
She earned her BA in education at the University of Michigan in 1955 and her MEd at the University of Rochester in 1958. She taught junior high mathematics at Franklin High School for two years and at Charlotte High School for one year. She and Ozzie were married in June, 1958.
She enjoyed camping, swimming and canoeing with her family on various outings in the Adirondacks, Maine and three trips to the Rocky Mountains. She and Ozzie enjoyed 14 ELDERHOSTEL programs in their senior years.
She was a dedicated Deacon in her church, calling on "shutins" and performing many other tasks around the pastoral care office.
A memorial service honoring Marge's life will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2 PM at the Downtown Presbyterian Church, 121 N. Fitzhugh St., (14614). A reception will follow at which time friends may greet the family.
