Pittsford: August 27, 2014. Predeceased by his son, Todd and survived by his wife of 61 years, Ginger, daughter, Holly, son Dean (Raven) and grandsons Maris and Jake. Born and raised in Michigan, Dick graduated with an MS in chemistry from the University of Michigan where he was a Phi Gamma Delta, married the girl next door and moved to Rochester when he was hired by Eastman Kodak.
A natural athlete, Dick won several golf tournaments and had a brief encounter with a scratch handicap. Several tennis trophies gather dust in the closet. An outstanding swimmer, he held a national high school record in the individual medley. So it was something of a surprise when he never really got the hang of skiing, but he persevered to "make Rochester winters bearable". He was devoted to books, amassing rooms full and sometimes buying the same book twice. Dick retired from Kodak and joined Ginger in the Seasonal Kitchen Cooking School where he sliced and diced with alacrity and was a constant source of humor prompting someone to call it "The Dick and Ginger Show". He did some professional modeling, playing a doctor, CEO, symphony conductor and father of the bride on General Hospital, but his best real life roles were proud Dad and loving Grandpa.
Dick did not want a fancy goodbye. He will join his son, Todd, on a Cape Cod dune overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Friends are invited to toast a great guy at Casa Larga Vineyards in Fairport on Thursday, September 18th from 1pm to 3pm.
