Fort Myers, FL: Died Monday, November 26, 2012 at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs after a short illness. He was 78. Sidney was born March 21, 1934 in Yakima, WA a son of the late Kenneth and Ruth (Hiatt) Hauenstein. While serving in the United States Air Force he was stationed in Germany; Tripoli, North Africa and at NATO in Naples, Italy. Sidney graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor's of Science degree. He then earned his MBA degree from the University of Rochester. Mr. Hauenstein retired after 34 years from Xerox Corporation as a manufacturing manager. He was a member of Our Lady of Light Catholic Community in Fort Myers, FL, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Knights of Columbus, Estero Lodge #2753 Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks and Friends of South County Regional Library. Sidney was a volunteer income tax preparer for AARP, was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling the U.S. and Canada in his motorhome. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Claire Smith (Wiedman) Hauenstein; children, Gail (Tim) Gemmell of Poughkeepsie, NY, Kenneth Hauenstein of Seneca Falls, NY, James (Lois) Hauenstein of Williamson, NY, Karl (Margaret) Hauenstein of Syracuse, NY; brother, David Hauenstein of Fort Myers, FL; aunt, Verda (Walter) Turpin of Yakima, WA; grandchildren, Alec Gemmell, Sarah Gemmell, Greg (Emily) Hauenstein, 2nd Lt. Tim Hauenstein, Mark Hauenstein, W. Robert (Emily) Henning, Christopher Henning; and great grandchildren, Noelle, Gavin and Layla Henning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 7, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Louis Catholic Church, 64 South Main Street Pittsford, NY 14534. Inurnment will follow at White Haven Memorial Park. Kindly consider a donation in Sid's memory, in lieu of flowers, to Lymphedema Resources, Inc., P.O.
