Cone, Walter L.

Webster: Wed., April 9, 2014, passed away peacefully, age 89. He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, James (Crissy), Robert (Shelley), Timothy (Christine); grandsons, Nicholas, Adam, Steven, Preston; sister-in-law, Irene; many nieces & nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Walter, IV and Gladys; brother, Richard; sister, Caroline; and son, Walter, VI.

Walter served in the US Navy during World War II, was honorably discharged in 1946 and had been a member of the American Legion ever since. He was a 32nd degree Mason and longtime member of the Webster Masonic Lodge 538. Together with his wife, Helen, and four sons, they spent three decades running Walco Auto Supply in Webster. Walter and Helen retired in 1985 and then traveled throughout the US in their motorhome. He will be remembered for his gift of gab, sense of humor, and love of flying airplanes.

Calling hours are from 2-5 Sunday at Willard H. Scott Funeral Home, 12 South Ave., Webster. Interment at Webster Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial Service and reception will be held 12:00 PM, April 14 at Webster Baptist Church, 59 South Ave. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Webster Comfort Care Home, 700 Holt Rd., Webster, NY 14580.
