John Sumpter Walker, Jr., born October 1921 in Richmond, Arkansas and died October 2013 in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Walker received a Bachelor's Degree in journalism from Tulane University in 1942. He earned a Master's Degree in public administration from the University of Denver in 1953; and a Juris Doctor from the DU College of Law in 1960. He was General Solicitor for the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad Company for many years and served as attorney to the Moffat Tunnel Commission and president of the Denver Union Terminal Railway Company. Walker was a decorated veteran of Patton's Third Army, 90th Infantry Division. After his Honorable Discharge in 1947 at Berchtesgaden, Germany, he married Eliana M. Duval in 1948 at St. Bartholomew's Church on the western shore of the Königssee Lake in the Bavarian Alps. His beloved wife Eliana predeceased him April 2011. He is survived by children John S., III, Barbara (Phil Feigin) and Peter (Esther) Walker; grand-children Dustin (Aria) and Jason Walker; and great-grandson Peregrine (son of Dustin and Aria) Walker. In accordance with his wishes, a private service and interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery are to be conducted in his and Eliana's memory. Rest in peace together Mom and Dad. You are in our hearts.
