Peter Brinton Pryor, DVM, was born in Denver, Colorado on April 25, 1955, and died of esophageal cancer on September 28, 2013. He is survived by his mother Phyllis of Denver, his wife Lucie VanMeter, and his children Peter and Elizabeth Alden, all of Lexington, Kentucky. He is also survived by his sister Susan (John) Willson of Denver, his brother Michael (Marianne) of Lander, Wyoming, and his aunt Petie Pryor of Pueblo, as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Wilbur M. Pryor and his grandparents Dr. and Mrs. William T. Brinton of Denver and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur M. Pryor of Pueblo. Pete attended Colorado State University for 3 years and received early admission to the School of Veterinary Medicine. He received his graduate and undergraduate degrees simultaneously in 1980. At CSU he was a member of SAE fraternity and served as president of the chapter. Subsequently he completed an internship and residency at the University of California, Davis. He practiced veterinary medicine in Lexington, Kentucky until his death. His specialties were lameness and orthopedics in horses. A funeral Mass will be held on October 12, 2013 at 10AM at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Lexington. A memorial Mass will be held in Denver on December 17, 2013 at 2 PM at Blessed Sacrament Church in Denver. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Peter Brinton Pryor Memorial Fund for Esophageal Cancer Research at the University of Michigan, Thoracic Surgery Department in care of Dr. Marc Orringer.
