Thomas Barrett King, creator of well-known marketing programs for land, sea, and sky, passed away peacefully among family after succumbing to pneumonia on October 28, 2013, at age 87. He was a kind, generous father, avid sportsman, world traveler, master of words, and innovative leader within the travel industry. Originally from Chicago, he graduated from U of NM where he completed naval officers training to become a Lieutenant Commander. Tom proudly served in the Pentagon during the Korean War. In his successful marketing career, he worked at Hotpoint, Studebaker, Mercury Outboard Motors, and at Braniff International Airways as VP of Advertising/ Promotion. He later started Fort Worth Airlines and "retired" as a B&B owner (Queen Anne Inn & Capitol Hill Mansion), consultant, and an angel investor for local entrepreneurs in Denver. Thomas Barrett King is the son of Martha Clark Bennett King (children's book reviewer for Denver Post) and William Barrett King. Tom had one brother, Bennett King, and was previously married to Theresa Campbell King and Helen Chapman King. Tom is survived by his six children (Deborah Cohn, Catherine Jones, Christopher King, Davies King, Craig Chapman, and Haley Lhamon), many grandchildren, great grandchildren, his sister-in-law Elizabeth King, nieces, nephews, and cousins. We will miss him dearly. See www.denverpost.com/obituary for full bio.
