John Ramsden Obituary

Mr John Ramsden C.B.E of Holmesfield, Derbyshire, has passed away at home, on 13th November 2016, aged 89.
Born at Dronfield and a resident of Sheffield and Derbyshire all his life, he was an insurance broker, Director of Sheffield office of Willis, until his retirement in 1987. In retirement he became Project Manager of Djanogly City Technology College, Nottingham and Chairman and Chief Executive of Lancashire and Yorkshire Friendly Society, former Alderman of Derbyshire County Council and Parliamentary candidate for Chesterfield 1970 and North East Derbyshire 1974 and was appointed a C.B.E in 1998 for Public and Political Service.
The husband of the late Cynthia (nee Biggin) who predeceased him on 2nd August 2016, he leaves children Nicola, Louise, Mark, James, Anna and ten grandchildren.
The funeral service has taken place on Monday 28th November, at St Swithin's Parish Church, Holmesfield. Donations will be sent to Friends of Holmesfield Church and the Dronfield Heritage Trust.
A memorial service will take place at St John the Baptist Church, Dronfield, on Friday 17th February 2017, at 2pm.
