Albert "Chuck" Carmichael

Albert "Chuck" Carmichael Jr. was born on December 30, 1932 in Emmetsburg, Iowa to Albert and Madora Carmichael. He was the eldest of two children, and has a younger brother named William. He died May 2, 2013 at the Belle Fourche Healthcare Center, Belle Fourche, South Dakota.
Chuck attended Pocahontas community schools throughout grade school and high school, and received his high school diploma in 1950. He then attended two years of junior college at Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri, followed by one year at the University of South Dakota. Chuck joined the United States Army and served his country for three years. He married Marlene Muenzenmay on May 14, 1955 in Palmer, Iowa and the couple celebrated 57 years of marriage. They have a son, Brian Charles and two granddaughters, Katherine Sarah and Maggie Rose. Chuck was employed by Northwestern Mutual Insurance and later worked for the Board of Public Utilities in Kansas City. He was also a sales representative for Skelly Oil Company. His favorite job was at his beloved Hy-Vee store in Des Moines, Iowa, where he worked in Public Relations. Chuck and Marlene retired in 2007 and moved to Spearfish, South Dakota in 2009.
Chuck enjoyed antiques, barbequing on the deck, Kansas City Chiefs Football, playing golf and tennis with his son, Brian, and most of all spending time with his granddaughters. His proudest moments include marrying Marlene, Brian's birth and meeting Babe Ruth. His favorite pastime however was socializing with others. He eagerly included and welcomed everyone into the group. He respected every person he had the pleasure to meet. He touched many hearts and was never afraid to tell you he loved you. He spent his last months residing at the Belle Fourche Healthcare Center, where he had many friends and never ran out of stories to share at the round table.
Those grateful to have shared in Chuck's life is his wife, Marlene Carmichael, son, Brian Carmichael, two granddaughters, Katherine Sarah and Maggie Rose Carmichael, brother, William (Judy) Carmichael, family friend, Ann Carmichael and a host of friends.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis with Pastor Stephan Sandness officiating.
