C. Warren Myer, 86, passed away peacefully from this life at Veterans Hospital CLC surrounded by his loving family on January 3, 2013. Warren's funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Norwalk Christian Church, 701 Main St. in Norwalk with burial at Resthaven Cemetery, 801 - 19th St. in West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Norwalk Christian Church.

Warren was born in Des Moines on July 1, 1926, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater during WWII aboard the USS PC-582 and the USS Karnes as a gunner's mate third class. He was the Navy's wrestling champ in his weight class. Warren was a life-long Teamster member, having worked for Coryell Gas Stations, Gurwell Transfer, Allied Van Lines, Bruce Motor Freight, Mid-American Lines and the U.S. Post Office. He was a member of the Norwalk Christian Church, VFW Post 738, Cumming American Legion Post 562 and Teamsters Local 147.
Warren loved his family, enjoyed life-long friendships, fishing, card playing, woodworking, playing his guitar and harmonica, and he loved his dogs, Sam and Sloan.
Warren is survived by his wife, Virgel; children, Jack (Jan) Myer of Ankeny, Connie (Rick) Adkisson, of Clive, Kathie (Jerry-JD) Hungerford of Cumming, Gary (Peggy) Myer of Norwalk and Duane Myer of Shawnee, KS; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Murray of Des Moines; beloved cousin, Beulah Parker and the Oklahoma family; special friends Tom and Roxann Smith, Bob and Marilyn Fisher, Ruth Snider and the Jackson St. family all of Norwalk. He was preceded in death by his parents Leon and Clella Myer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Cumming American Legion Post 562, P.O. Box 31, Cumming, IA 50061.
