Carroll Arneson

Carroll O. Arneson, 88 of Jewell, Iowa went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. A visitation of family and friends will be Sunday, January 27, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg. To celebrate Carroll's life a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at the church with Pastor Ron Lotz officiating. Burial with military honors will follow the luncheon at 1:30 p.m. at Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth. Becker Funeral Home of Jewell is entrusted with the arrangements.

Carroll was born on a farm north of Roland to Bert and Bella (Olson) Arneson on June 24, 1924. He attended the Roland and Milford schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a tech sergeant in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was discharged with honors. After military service, he returned to Iowa to start farming. Carroll was united in marriage to Deloris Tjernagel on April 25, 1948 at the Randall Elim Lutheran Church where they farmed in the Ellsworth area for 58 years. He was a member of the Missionary Alliance Church where he served as treasurer; also, he was on the Ellsworth Co-op board for many years. He was a member of the Jewell Golf and Country Club and the Ellsworth American Legion Post. He enjoyed participating in the Memorial Day service at Ellsworth each year. Over the years he enjoyed fishing, golfing, reading, and watching sunsets on the lake. They spent 16 years wintering in their RV in Arizona. Carroll was a very ambitious and industrious farmer. He was a loving and caring husband to his beloved Dee and dearly loved his family and his many friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Dee of Jewell; two daughters, Becky (Jim) Conard of Earlham, Carolyn (Mike) Brooks of Ames; son, Paul (Tammy) Arneson of Ellsworth; nine grandchildren and their spouses: Brian (Rachel) Brooks, Emily Brooks, Steven (Melanie) Brooks, Christy (Jeff) Pederson, Luke Conard, Adam (Sarah) Conard, Cody Arneson, Kylie Arneson, and Hunter Arneson; four great grandchildren: Elijah, Abram, Fynlie, and Hayleigh; one brother, Gene Arneson of Tucson, Arizona; and one sister, Betty Hanson of Story City. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Bruce Arneson; one brother, Lawrence; and his sister, Lola Bergeson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg or the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Blessed be the memory of Carroll Arneson.
