Charles M. Roth
Charles M. Roth, 89, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Charles was born February 15, 1925, in Audubon, Iowa, son of John and Ida (Winters) Roth. He served in the US Army during WWII on the European Front. Charles was the recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, the Croix de guerre and the French fourragère.
Charles owned and operated Roth's Barber and Beauty Salon on Beaver Avenue, with his wife, Catherine, for 25 years, retiring in 1990. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye sports fan and enjoyed spending time with his friends. Charles' passion was always his family.
Charles is survived by his wife of 65 years, Catherine, his son, Joseph M. (Vickie) Roth of Johnston, grandson, Steven J. Roth of Waukee, and his siblings, William Roth and Phyllis Larson, both of Audubon, Joseph Roth of Panora, and Keith Roth of Cedar Rapids.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at Iles-Westover Chapel where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church or the
