Dan L. "Island Dan" Hurley

Dan passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on May 2nd, 2014.
He was born July 9th, 1944 to Eldon and Virginia Hurley in Des Moines, Iowa. He is survived by his wife Sharon; his sister, Peggy Peel (brother in law, Bob Schlarbaum) of West Des Moines. Nephews, Scott (Kim) Mooers of Carlisle; Gregg (Robin) Mooers of Norwalk. Great nephews and nieces. Daughters Rochelle and Michelle, and son Jim Hurley of San Marcos, California. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He attended Des Moines Technical High, and then joined the United States Marine Corp.He was a true American patriot and loved his Country. He was a dedicated member and President of Rolling Thunder Chapter 2, American Legion Post 136, Legion Riders Post 136, VFW, VVA, the Moose Lodge, and a lifetime member of ABATE. He will be buried at Sarasota National Cemetery with military honors on July 2nd,2014.
Donations may be made in his name to the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.
HIS SPIRIT WILL FOREVER REMAIN IN OUR "HEARTS" AND ON THE "ISLAND".
