Dixie Elder Banks, 77, passed away January 9, 2013 in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines. Burial is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday at Wallace Cemetery in Wick, IA.
Dixie was born in Mason City, IA on October 18, 1935. She attended both Iowa State University and The University of Iowa, which prepared her for a successful career at Capp Homes and Farm Bureau. She retired from Farm Bureau after 19 years of service. Dixie was extremely devoted to her daughters, family, twelve grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Jacquelyn Elder; husbands, Don Nindos and George Banks. She is survived by her 4 daughters and their families; Carrie and Brian Barie of Woodstock, GA, Christy and Richard Spooner of West Des Moines, Katie and Jim Lacona of Urbandale, and Stacy and Derek Halter of Leopold, MO; and her sister, Mary and Robert Wilson of Mason City, IA.
