Francis Joseph Stehlik, 85, of Ankeny, Iowa, went home to be with his Lord the 29th of July, 2014, from Mercy Hospice in Johnston. According to his wishes, his body has been cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., August 9, at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.).

Francis was born to Joseph and Lillian Stehlik at Vail, Iowa, on May 5, 1929. Francis married Olive Lacey of Crawford County, Iowa, on March 5, 1955. Francis, Olive and three daughters moved from western Iowa to Ankeny, Iowa, in 1966. Francis and Olive celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary March 5, 2014.

Francis was retired from the McKesson Corporation. Francis was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army in 1951 and 1952 including a tour of duty in Korea. He enjoyed playing basketball and softball in high school and for several years after in western Iowa. He supported the local Ankeny High School sports teams. He was a member of Union Park Baptist Church.

He is survived by a brother, Wesley Stehlik of Vail, Iowa, three daughters-Michelle (Kevin) Powers of North Pole, Alaska; Sharon Siddon of Richardson, Texas; and Lori Malone (Terry) of Reasnor, Iowa, and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Johnston Hospice or Ankeny Athletic Booster Club.
