Guy Robert "Bob" Courtney, son of Guy Thomas and Thelma (Baxter) Courtney was born October 4, 1937 in Warren Co., and passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola at age 75.

Graveside services will be 9:30 am Friday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter. An informal get together and jam session will be Thursday 5 to 7 PM at Cathy's office, 115 E. Jefferson in Osceola.

Bob graduated from Milo High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961. Following discharge Bob entered the Iowa National Guard serving until 1969.

Bob married Judith Ann Hunt, August 29, 1959 in Des Moines. Bob worked as an Information Technology Administrator for KPMG in Des Moines for 25 years. Following retirement he helped in his daughter Cathy's accounting office in Osceola.

Bob's passion was singing and playing guitar. He and Judy enjoyed traveling to Bluegrass Festivals throughout the Midwest, entertaining audiences with their unique style of dancing. Friends enjoyed their late night "coffee" sessions. Bob never met a stranger.

Those relatives who preceded Bob in death were his parents and his brother Garry Courtney.

He leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Judith Courtney; daughter, Carie (Denny) Cottrell, daughter, Cathy (Kenny) Blair, granddaughter, Brandi (Monte) Kastler, granddaughters, Amanda, Amelia, Alicia and Alexxa Blair, great grandchild, Ryne Kastler, brother, Richard (Mary) Courtney of Osceola, sisters, Marie (Lyman) Stuart of Leon; Mary (Tom) Borrall of Creston, Linda Halsten of Creston, sister, Carol (Steve) Bishop of Melcher.
