Jeffrey T. "Jeff" Forret, 45, of Black Forest, Colorado, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service celebrating Jeff's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 24th, at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines, Iowa. A private family committal service will take place at a later date.
Jeff was born in West Des Moines and graduated from Valley High School, the University of Iowa and University of Nebraska- Law School. He loved sports especially baseball, golf and hockey. One of Jeff's greatest accomplishments occurred when he was named a certified counselor at Hazelden for the treatment of alcohol and drug addiction in Center City, MN. His caring and thoughtful style created a positive atmosphere of hope for those in need of help. Jeff loved the great outdoors of Colorado and adventure's with his dog, Bosco. His engaging personality, wry sense of humor and loving smile will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his mother, Dianne (Leon) Shearer of Waukee, IA; father, Ron (Carol) Forret of Las Vegas NV; brother, Brad (Tamme) Forret; grandfather, Darrell (Joni) Tingwald of Boone, IA; stepsister, Heidi (Brent) Koch of West Des Moines; stepbrother, Shawn Shearer of Dallas, TX; ten nieces and nephews; and his dear companion, Jennifer Schultz of Black Forest.
The family will greet friends following the service on Friday, at the church.
