Jon David "Dave" Turner, 71, died October 12, 2012, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
A visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012, at Holy Trinity Lutheran church, in Ankeny. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, also at the church.
Dave was born June 30, 1941, to Bill and Mildred Turner, in Odebolt, IA.
He graduated from high school in Sheldon, IA, and received a B.S. degree from the University of South Dakota. He then earned an M.A. degree from Michigan State University.
Dave was an educator in Iowa for 35 years. He was a teacher, and an elementary and middle school principal. He spent 13 years working in the Ankeny school system, and his last ten years working in the East Union school district, in Afton, IA.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 51 years, Julie; his daughters, Judi (Tim) Hieb of Clive, Kris (Todd) Miler of West Des Moines; grandsons, David and Michael Hieb; brother, Jim (Carol) of Spokane, WA; six nephews, three nieces, and a sister-in-law, JoAn Turner of Missoula, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Dean Turner.
Memorials may be directed to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, or Kavanagh Hospice House.
