Josephine (Cipale) Sheehan passed away peacefully at Taylor House Hospice on Saturday, August 18, 2012 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Per her wishes the body has been cremated. A private family service will be held at Glendale Cemetery.

Josephine was born on September 4, 1936 to parents Mary Biondi and Charles Cipale. Josephine attended Saint Joseph's Academy and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1954. She went on to have a successful career at Iowa Methodist Medical Center where she retired after 17 years in the medical field as a phlebotomist.

Josephine was a very warm and loving mother as well as very out-going friend to those she met along the way throughout her life. She loved traveling, cooking, crafts and cats. She built a life time of lasting cherished memories amongst friends and family.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Judy Sheehan of Des Moines; sons, Joey and Jon Sheehan of Des Moines, Jerry (Mary) Sheehan of Blue Earth, MN and Jeff (Connie) Sheehan of Omaha, NE; former husband, Joe Sheehan, Sr. of Des Moines; sisters, Anna Marie (Ronald) Harsh of Marana, AZ, Margaret (David) Murray of Indianola, Marilyn (Santos) Campero and Carolyn (Donald) Hartley of Carlisle and numerous nieces and nephews.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Rosemary McAninch and Theresa Papiani; and four brothers, Angelo Cipale, Joseph Cipale, Gary Cipale and Charles Cipale.

A special thank you to Dr. Robert Behrens, Dr. Matthew Hill, Powell Three staff as well as the Oncology Radiation staff at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Dr. Mohommed Milhem, University of the Iowa Department of Radiology, Iowa Health Home Care and Taylor House Hospice.

Memorial contributions may be made to , the Animal Rescue League of Iowa and to Taylor House Hospice.
