Karen L. Krebsbach
Karen Louise Krebsbach, 74, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Throughout her life, Karen was a very generous and giving person. In agreement with her utmost desire and wishes, her body was gifted to the Body Donor Program at the University of Iowa Medical School for anatomical and surgical studies. A private service remembering Karen will be held for her close friends and family at a later date.
Karen was born on May 13, 1939, in Eldora, Iowa to Wendell and Helen (Kramer) Luiken. She was a graduate of Steamboat Rock High School, in Steamboat Rock, Iowa. Karen was united in marriage to Robert G. Krebsbach, and they made their home in Des Moines, where Karen and Robert raised their son, Kris. Karen was employed as a paralegal for most of her career with Davis Brown Koehn Shors and Roberts PC before retiring from the Polk County Juvenile Court Services. In her spare time, Karen enjoyed boating and fishing on West Lake Okoboji, playing bridge with friends and family, reading novels, and sewing.
She is survived by her son, Kris (Rena) Krebsbach of Urbandale; one sister, Pam (Al) Fisher of Rochester, MN; and two brothers, Mike Luiken of Steamboat Rock, IA and Bob (Jane) Luiken of Waco, TX. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Krebsbach; one sister, Janet Heller; and one brother, David Luiken.
