Larry Ray Waychoff, 74, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Bright Kavanagh in Des Moines.

Larry was born March 22, 1939 in Des Moines. He was a lifelong Eastsider. Larry played legion ball for Baldwin-Patterson Post 274. He graduated from East High School in 1957 where he played football and baseball and was active in their Alumni Association. Larry was a two year veteran of the Marine Corps and attended Grandview College. He was a member of the Bellizzi-MacRae American Legion. Larry retired from the U.S.P.S. and most recently worked for Glen Oaks Country Club. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid golfer. Larry was the 1990 winner of the Iowa Section P.G.A. Pro Senior Division.

Larry is survived by his son, Sam Waychoff; daughter, Jennifer Jolene; grandchildren, Lauren, Samantha Jolene, Joshuah Alden and Kenneth Albert Ray; great-grandchildren, Natalie MorningStar and Eli Lee-Ray; mother, Grace Connell; siblings, Linda Miles, Marilyn Arnold, Clark Connell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin R. Waychoff (WWII).

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Grandview Clubhouse, 2401 East 29th Street, Des Moines Saturday, September 14, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m.
