LeRoy F. Thompson
LeRoy F. Thompson, age 81, died July 3, 2014 in Indianola Iowa. He was born April 18, 1933 to Thomas and Loretta Thompson in Des Moines Iowa.
LeRoy served in the US Marine Corp. and retired as a conductor for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad after 38 years.
He enjoyed family time, especially his grandchildren and his great grandchildren, fishing and hunting, his pit bulls, "Pugs" and "Popeye", and his accomplishment as a Golden Gloves Champion.
LeRoy is survived by his daughters, Pam (Kelly) Grandstaff, Marcia Kuhn, Betsy Showers and Rhonda (Lynn) Morrow; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; sister, Helen Gorla; and brother, James Thompson. He is preceded by his parents; wife, Joyce; brother, Tommy Thompson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Burial will follow the service at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will occur Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
