Lloyd Gene Campbell
Lloyd Gene Campbell, 87, passed away November 2, 2012, in Holiday, FL. His cremated remains will be interred at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. No services are planned.
He was born April 11, 1925 to Laurence and Atha Campbell on a farm near Osceola, IA, the eldest of four sons. He attended country one-room schools through 8th grade, graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines in 1943, attended Michigan State University and graduated from Flight Air Base in San Angelo, Texas as Second Lieutenant. WWII ended just before his squadron was to go the Pacific area.
He worked 40 years in administration for Travelers Insurance Company and was a 50 year member of Gnemeth Masonic Lodge in West Des Moines, Heartland OES in Des Moines and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Altoona.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Clara Mae; two daughters, Marcia M. (Christopher) Marden, Colorado Springs, CO and Cynthia J. Campbell, Ankeny, IA and brother, Richard of Holiday, FL. Lloyd was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles and Ray.
