Lucille V. Wooters
Luci Wooters, 91, died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, in the presence of family at home. Her family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20 at Westover Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church.
Luci was born March 11, 1922, in Dubuque, Iowa to Melvin and Catherine (VonFumetti) Zauche. She attended Dubuque High School, Clarke College and the University of Iowa, graduating as a RN in 1944. Upon graduation, she married Richard C. Wooters. In 1949, the couple opened a medical practice in Windsor Heights, which they operated for 30 years.
Luci was a volunteer at Lutheran Hospital and Windsor Heights Lutheran Church, where she was a member for 60 years. She enjoyed cooking, traveling the world, spending summers at her cabin on Long Lake, and being "Grandma," "Softie," and "Gigi," to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Luci will be remembered for her selflessness and sense of humor.
Survivors include her children: Patti (Jim) Verlengia of Johnston, Joan (Tim Mlsna) Fumetti of Windsor Heights, David (Laurie) Soures Wooters of Webster, NY; grandchildren: Toni (Christopher) White, Andy (Marina) Verlengia, Chris (Ayden) Verlengia, Charles Wooters; great grandchildren: Cameron, Luci and Annie White.
