Norman "Jake" Amos Jacobson, 85, of Story City died June 13, 2014 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Memorial services will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 17 at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m., Monday, June 16 at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City and 1 hour prior to the service at the church.



Jake was born on April 4, 1929 in Roland to Amos and Nora (Johnson) Jacobson. He was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. He graduated from Roland High School and attended the University of Iowa. Jake was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the American Legion. Early in his career he worked for his father at Jacobson Trucking, briefly as an owner-operator and then drove for Ace Lines Trucking.



Jake liked to rebuild and maintain his trucking equipment, and loved to go boating, camping, RV traveling and exploring flea markets. He enjoyed being with his friends and family, and was very social.



Jake is survived by his second wife, Joanne, of Manson, IA; three daughters, Kay Jacobson (Don) Stanley of Winterset, IA, Becky Jacobson (Ross) Diercks of Lusk, WY and Lori Jacobson (Jason Kogan) of Los Angeles, CA. one son, Jon (Donna) Jacobson of Cumming, IA and a stepdaughter, Michelle Thomson, of Osage Beach, MO; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.



He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dan; stepson, Mike; grandson, Joe; brother, Ed Jacobson; sister, Jan Jacobson, and an infant sister.
