Raymond Harden, Jr.


Raymond Harden, Jr. passed away on May 25, 2014. Ray was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather and friend born on June 4, 1924 in Des Moines to Raymond and Irene Harden. He was married to Mabel (Burnette) Harden on March 17, 1944. He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. Ray was a US Army veteran of WWII and upon honorable discharge, he operated his own trucking company and retired from the trucking industry after more than 35 years. He loved traveling with his wife after his retirement. Ray was devoted to his family.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mabel Harden, his parents, Irene and Raymond Harden, and his brothers, Robert and Richard Harden. He is survived by his daughters, Julia Wierson (Mark), Urbandale, Janet Davis, Denver, CO and Jo Ann Cowger (Gary), Urbandale, his sons, Raymond Harden, III (Cynde), Punta Gorda, FL and Jeffrey Harden (Rita), Greensboro, GA; 12 grandchildren;12 great grandchildren; and sister, Phyllis Cox of Johnston.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 28, at 11 a.m.-Noon at Iles Westover Chapel followed by a Noon funeral service with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
