Richard Dale Lowe, 90, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Dunn's Funeral Home. Cremation will follow services and memorial graveside services will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter at a later date.

Richard was born April 14, 1924, in Chariton, Iowa to Perry William and Lois Violet Lowe. He was raised in Truro and served in the US Navy as a Gunner's Mate on a destroyer escort during WWII from 1942 - 1945. Richard worked as a Photographer for Meredith Publishing for over 30 years.

Richard is survived by his sons, Jan (Hisako Iida) Lowe and David (Cheryl) Lowe, both of Des Moines, Timothy (Janet) Lowe of St. Louis, MO, and his daughter, Sarah (Bob) Cole of Evansville, IN; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Jerry and Bill.

The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Iles-Dunn's Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Online condolences will be welcomed at
