Robert K. Canon
Robert K. Canon, 90, was born December 31, 1922, in Des Moines, IA, passed away February 23, 2013.
He graduated from East High School in 1940. He married his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy Faye McCarty in 1942, at Wesley United Methodist Church, which they were lifelong members. They had two daughters, one son, five grandsons, and six great-grandchildren. He served three and a half years in the US Navy in World War II. In 1948, he opened Canon Dental Laboratory in Des Moines, and continued to own and operate until 1993, when he sold to a former employee and retired. He served as Secretary, Vice President, and finally President of the IA Dental Laboratory Association. Bob was a very dedicated family man and brought much joy and laughter to all that knew him. He was an avid amateur golfer and enjoyed all active sports, especially Iowa and Iowa State football and college wrestling. Robert is survived by daughters, Nancy Crauer and Janis Gipple (Mike); sister-in-law, Doris Merrill and all his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy and son, Rex. His body will be cremated and a graveside interment service of the cremains will be held for family and friends at Resthaven Cemetery at a later date to be announced.
