Scott Clements Erwood, 57 of Atlanta, died peacefully on June 26, 2013 at Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, surrounded by those he lived for and loved most. Scott is survived by the love of his life, Patti Cox Erwood who he met in 2005 and married in 2007. Besides his wife Patti he is survived by their six children, Matt, Andy, Adam, Amalie and Eric Erwood, and Mackenzie Cox; his parents JoAnn and Sheldon Erwood, two brothers Brent and his wife Susan, Gregg and his wife Janelle, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his stepson, Foster Cox. Scott was born in Des Moines IA. He attended college and Medical School at The University of Iowa. He completed his surgical residency at Case Western in Cleveland followed by a neurosurgical spine fellowship at Emory. Scott was a brilliant neurosurgeon who practiced medicine for over 25 years and was highly regarded by his colleagues. Most recently he had joined Wellstar Physician Group at Kennestone Hospital. Before that time Scott practiced at Atlanta Medical Center, Grady and Emory Hospitals. Scott's greatest accomplishment was his devotion to his family. We thank God for the gift of knowing and loving this wonderful man and for the time we got to spend with him. We are all better for knowing him. We know that because of his faith he is welcomed today into the arms of Jesus. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 7, at 3 p.m. at Dunwoody United Methodist Church.
