Scott Leniton

West Des Moines

On Tuesday April 1st Scott Jeffrey Leniton, 60, lost his battle with lung cancer and passed away peacefully at the Heather Hills Hospice in New Port Richey, Florida, surrounded by family and friends.

Scott was born May 16th 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Valley High School in West Des Moines where he was active in sports, music, and student government. Scott went on to graduate from the University of Iowa. His years in Iowa City created a lifelong affinity of the Hawkeyes. Scott was involved in the flooring industry during his years in Iowa and later owned a Stained Glass Overlay franchise in Florida.

Scott was a lover of animals and always had at least one dog around the house. He enjoyed participating in softball leagues in both Iowa and Florida.

During his years in Florida Scott developed a passion for golfing and loved spending time on the links. He always had a ready smile and a unique laugh and both will be missed by family and friends alike. Scott is survived by: his wife Valerie; sons Sean Leniton and Mathew Leniton; parents Walter and Cynthia Leniton; and his siblings Doug, Brian, and Linda. Scott elected to be cremated. The family is planning memorial services at a future time.
