Sharon O'Keefe

Lutz, Fl (formerly of Creston and Des Moines)

Sharon Novotne O'Keefe, 68, of Lutz, Fl., formerly of Creston and Des Moines, died June 23. Sharon was born in Creston, attended Creston High School, was in the National Honor Society and the high school band. She attended Drake University, graduating with a degree in journalism. Sharon was a top reporter and editor at five metropolitan daily newspapers, including the Register, Rocky Mountain News, Duluth News-Tribune, Norfolk Virginian-Pilot and Albany, N.Y., Times-Union. She won outstanding reporting awards at several of them. Sharon was an aspiring artist and gifted photographer, world traveler and Disney World enthusiast, taking many friends and relatives there for a day of fun and fantasy. She was very kind and often cared for family members and others needing help.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Roberta Novotne. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, William J., her Corgi, Paddy, many friends and extended family members.
