Steven Feldman

Palatka, FL (formerly of Ankeny)

Steven Feldman, 61, of Palatka, Florida passed away at his home on Monday, March 10, 2014. Visitation will be held 5 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, at Memorial Services of Iowa in Ankeny. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, March 20, at Saylorville Church in Des Moines.

Steve was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Delbert and Virginia Feldman. Steve met his future wife, Barb, in 1st grade while attending elementary school in Ankeny. After high school, Steve attended Northwest Missouri State University and later enlisted in the Army. Steve was in the Army for 4 years, serving as an MP, dog handler, and CID based at Fort Ord, CA and loved every minute of his time there. Steve and Barb were married in 1976 and spent another year in Monterrey, California before returning to Iowa. Upon returning to Iowa, Steve worked as a police officer at the Ankeny Police Department and at John Deere before moving into the field of Health Information Management. Steve was a Polk County Sheriff Reserve Deputy for 10 years. Steve spent the last 23 years as the Director of Medical Records at hospitals in Iowa and Florida. Not only was he recognized many times for his outstanding work in his field, more importantly, he was very loved and respected by his employees and the hospital staff.

He is survived by his children, daughter Rebecca Torres (Jose Luis) of Guadalajara, Mexico; son David Feldman (Crystal) of Winterset, IA; daughter Sarah Malone (Jonathan) of Shawnee, KS. He was a proud Grandpa to Zachary, Andrew, Jack Henry, Lucy, Daniela and Elena. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Feldman of Ankeny and brother John Feldman (Teri) of Alleman. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, and parents, Delbert and Ginny.
