Dan S. Jorgensen Obituary
Dan S. Jorgensen
July 22, 1927 ~ May 1, 2013
Mt. Pleasant, UT-Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend; Dan S. Jorgensen, 85, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at his home in Mt. Pleasant, UT. He was born July 22, 1927 in Mt. Pleasant, UT to David and Bertha Swensen Jorgensen. He married Flora Lee Larson on March 12, 1954 which was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on April 15, 1964. He attended Wasatch Academy and at age 17, joined and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his service, he and his father operated a logging and sawmill business and hauled many loads of logs off of Fairview Canyon. He then started his own excavating business and began hauling sheep in his Mack Truck where he met many special lifelong friends. This period of time was the highlight of his life! He was known as "Digger Dan", was a humorous jokester and always wore the visor turned up on his hat, which became his signature trademark. He could fix anything, and enjoyed working in his shop! He loved animals and always had a dog by his side. He and Flora Lee loved being with their close knit group of friends that have been together for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 51 years and daughter, Annette Jorgensen. He is survived by daughters Becky Pepper, Salt Lake City; Dana Lee (Chris) Sorensen, Mt. Pleasant; Dixie (Kirk) Terry, St. George; Lisa Shipley, Midvale and one sister; Frankie (Kenneth) Bowers, Las Vegas, NV; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. We will love and miss him dearly! There will be a viewing on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 6-8pm at Rasmussen Mortuary, 96 N. 100 W. Mt. Pleasant, UT. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 6, 2013 at 11am at the Mt. Pleasant LDS 6th Ward Chapel, 5th North and 3rd West with a viewing from 9:30am-10:30am prior to the service. Interment, Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery with military honors.
