David LaMont Clifford, born 3-4-1944 in Rigby, Idaho to Theo LeRoy and Hannah Butler Clifford, "transferred" April 27, 2013 after his courageous battle with his 4th cancer. He died at home surrounded by love. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Dale. Survived by his siblings Brent, Michael, and Julia.
After he graduated from High School, he set out to seek his fortune and found her. He married Noell Smith June 14, 1963 for time and all Eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. He then served in the US Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam War.
His greatest joy was his family: children D. Shane (Tonya) Clifford, Sharmon (Paul) Gilbert, Janel (Joshua) Long, Kari (Brady) Staples; grandchildren Kaleigh, Conner, Zachary, Madison and Gabriella Clifford, Sharel, Jamie, Nate, Josie and Cassidy Gilbert, Jonathan, Jillian, Julia, and Jackson Long, J. Ethan and Garrison Staples.
Dave worked as a cabinet maker, and as a Journeyman Welder layout man for Kennecott Copper; retiring after 30 years, He then found his dream job at South Valley School where he used his greatest talent - teaching.
Forever learning and developing new talents. He trained and showed horses, gardened, cooked, round and square danced, hunted, fished, worked with wood, metal, and leather. He raised farm animals, repaired small engines and painted with watercolors.
His life was a life of service, loving and helping neighbors and strangers and serving on the city planning committee, the city council and various clubs.
He was a faithful member of the LDS church, serving wherever called. He was a Temple worker in the Jordan River Temple for 6 years.
Our family would like to thank neighbors, ward family, everyone at Crosslands, Dr. Litton, Dr. Boam, and their staff for their kindness and love.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, May 3, 2013 in the Country Park Ward Building, 1988 West 11400 South, South Jordan. Family and friends may call Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 6-8 pm at the Jenkins-Soffe South Valley funeral home, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan and on Friday from 10-11 am prior to services at the church. Interment at South Jordan City Cemetery. Online condolences at www.jenkins-soffe.com.
